GS-COM networks computers donated by Pallotti New York Alumni Association

Pallotti’s New York Almuni Association donates 15 Computers and GS-COM participates by providing the networking of the computers free of charge.

April 14, 2010

The Pallotti High School Alumnae of New York donated 15 Computers, 1 Laser Printer and various networking equipment to Pallotti High School in Belize City, BELIZE.

The presentation by the Pallotti High School Alumnae of New York,  through its President, Daphne Cadle Morris to Sr. Clara, Principal of Pallotti High School was done on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 2:00 pm, at the Computer Lab (3rd Floor) of Pallotti High School  located on Princess Margaret Dr., Belize City.  Representing President, Daphne Cadle Morris at the handing over ceremony will be Ms. Rosalie T. Staines, a graduate of Pallotti High.

This donation was facilitated through the kind assistance of GS-COM. Equipped with the technical expertise, GS-COM setup the network of the 15 computers and 1 HP laser printer with file sharing and print function. The Pallotti High School Alumnae of New York

"The Pallotti High School Alumnae of New York was formed in 1996.  In its continued efforts to render financial and moral support towards the education of Pallotti’s students, the Association has donated approx. (BZ) $130,606.00 to date.

Our goal and concern is how to best contribute to the various needs of our High School students.  One of the ways we have been able to assist is by offering scholarships to students with a good GPA.  In addition, we have been able to supply the school with a number of computers for Lab #1.

We organize three yearly Fundraisers:  a bus outing to Atlantic City, a barbeque in the summer and an Annual Dinner Dance in November.  This dance is where we bring in the largest income.  The proceeds from these functions are sent each year to the Principal of Pallotti High School.  The Principal determines how the funds are to be allocated, in direct proportion to the needs of the student and the school.

On a visit with Sister Clara Teul last year, I learned from her that they were building a computer lab and needed to equip it upon completion.  This information was conveyed to the committee, and we knew that our job was going to be a giant one.

Our sister alumnae, honorary members and the Belizean Community have been awesome in their support each year.  They also look forward to these fundraisers.  Our sincere thanks and gratitude go out to them for their continued assistance.  We also wish to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. George of GS-Com who worked tirelessly with Sr. Clara to evaluate which system would best suited for the school.

We are very proud of what we have accomplished over the past fourteen years, and hope to continue for many more years to come."

Rosalie Staines, Rep., N.Y. Pallotti High School Alumni Association

“They just completed the construction of their lab, after meeting with Sister Clara, the president and the Board decided that computer equipment is really very needed to empower women.”

Sr. Clara Teul, Principal, Pallotti High School

“We started with the building and then Ms. Daphne came last year in the summer and I took her to show her where the money—since I came on board—where the money has been used and that was on the building. Then I showed her a classroom because at that time the second floor was still not completed and is still not completed today. But I showed her where I would like another classroom for computers since our computer lab is getting small. We offer information technology to first and fourth form students and so we need to have the latest technology for our girls to be prepared for the world of work out there. That’s how that came about, yes.”

George Sosa, GS-COM

“The process started back in June of last year when Ms. Daphne Horace came down to Belize and both her and myself visited Sister Clara to look at what needs the school had. They found out that they needed to replace some very antiquated computers and so from then on we have been communicating to see what the options we could provide to the lab and at the end of the day it was decided to get fifteen computers, a network laser jet printer, UPS’s and networking switched to connect all the systems...”
